The Wheat and Tares

Types of People in the World Today:

1-Those who are truly saved and living out their salvation to the honor and glory of God

2-Those who are truly saved and not living out their salvation.

3-Those who are lost without Christ

4-Those who are lost without Christ but believe they are in the faith.

  2.     A. The Character of the Seed
    1. The Wheat is an authentic Christian
    2. The Tare is a Counterfeit

a. Counterfeit Christians - 2 Cor.11:26 I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my own countrymen, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false brothers.

 b. Counterfeit Gospel - Gal.1:6-9 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

c. Counterfeit Righteousness - Rom.10:1-3 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's rt.

 d. Counterfeit Church - Rev.2:9 I know your afflictions and your poverty--yet you are rich. I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

 

  1.     B. The Character of the Sower
    1. Wheat sowed by the Savior
    2. Tare sowed by Satan

An enemy has done this - We can name a number of people, but the worker behind the scene is the Devil himself. 1. We can blame Charles Darwin for his undermining creation. Or, Friedrich Nietzsche(a) in his promoting his God is dead slogan. Or, David Hume who gave 1 of the most fundamental attacks on Natural Theology. Or, Immanuel Kant who believed A knowledge of God is impossible. But ultimately, the Devil is the one behind the scene.

 

 

  1. Both Progressed Together
  2.     A. There was all the activity of Wheat
  3.     B. There was all the appearance of Wheat
  4.     C. There was none of the abundance of Wheat

 

  1. Both Were Processed Together
  2.     A. The Wheat was Barned
  3.     B. The Tares were Burned

Many people are going to hell, not because of gross overt sins, but because they have a false righteousness apart from faith in Jesus Christ.

              Our task is not to pull up the False, but to plant the True.

  1. Hell is a fiery place
  2. Hell is a forever place
  3. Hell is a for real place
  4. Hell is a final place
