Most people consider their outward works or appearance when they talk of their spiritual life but God has always been concern with the inward attitude of the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 says, “ for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Jesus said in the previous verses “Unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.” All the Pharisees cared about was the external show which is why their worship and walk with God was  external, ceremonial, ritualistic, hypocritical legalism.

That’s why true salvation is a complete change of the heart. 2 Chronicles 16:9 says “For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.”

 

 I.The Malice of Murder verse 21

A.Not All Killing Is Forbidden

1.The Bible Does Not Forbid Capital Punishment

Genesis 9:6 by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.

 Exodus 21:12  “Whoever strikes a man so that he dies shall be put to death.

2.The Bible Does Not Forbid the Killing of Animals

3.The Bible Does Not Forbid Killing in Self-Defense

Exodus 22:2 If a thief is foundbreaking in and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no bloodguilt for him,

1.Caustic Anger- "when you are angry with a brother"

2.Contemptuous Anger "when you call someone raca"

B.The Progression to Malice Ephesians 4:26-31

1.Bitterness

Bitterness is a feeling of resentment that settles down in your heart when you feel somebody has done you

wrong.

2.Wrath- Greek word means to have a slow burn.
